Principal's Message

As the first principal of the Weilenmann School of Discovery, I am pleased to welcome all of our families into the Weilenmann community. I am delighted to be part of a school that is being built on innovative ideas and whose primary goal is to provide children with an engaging environment in where meaningful learning can occur. The fact that this will take place in such a picturesque setting as Park City just adds to my excitement. The past several months have been busy, as the organizational and academic foundations of the school have begun to take shape. This has been no small task, but is one of critical importance in creating the eventual educational model and culture that WSD is seeking. The process of identifying and hiring teachers who themselves are lifelong learners has begun. The goal is having a faculty comprising educators who are committed to the WSD vision and are able to bring it about through collaboration and innovation. Based on the quality of the candidates interviewed thus far, I am confident in our ability to put together such a team. The construction of the school building is coming along on schedule. It is gratifying to see this happen simultaneously with the development of the academic program. As these changes unfold and the reality of our new school evolves, we promise to keep you updated. To that end, the first school newsletter will be available online in April. We are in the process of creating committees and service programs through which students and parents can participate in the creation of our school community. These will continue to take shape as summer arrives and opening day approaches. The plan is for this to be a school where each individual can contribute to the school’s success in a meaningful way. I look forward to getting to know each member of this new community. I am confident that we will serve your children well as they go forward in pursuit of personal success and fulfillment.
